Roles and Groups in PASS
Roles are groups of objects with attributes (characteristics that correspond with one's role). Role types can be approved (financial signature card) or unapproved (business notification); role categories: financial, academic, research, or human resource. Roles are managed via WebRAT.
Groups are collections of objects in Penn State's Directory; there are three types of groups: Standing, Course, and User Managed Groups (UMGs). There are two types of UMGs: functional and personal. Groups are managed through https://umg.its.psu.edu/.
