Your account identifies you as eligible to access a wide range of Penn State services such as ANGEL, eLion, e-mail, libraries, the Computer Store, and computer labs.
Why do I need an account?
Accounts ensure your own privacy and safety as well as the security of the University. An account identifies you as someone who is authorized to use a resource or service. Just as you may have several banking and credit card accounts, you may need more than one University account if you use a variety of services.
Your primary digital identity at Penn State is your Penn State Access Account. This account provides access to a wide range of Penn State Internet services, including library resources, eLion, the World Wide Web, e-mail, the University's calendars, ecommerce Web sites, employee records, research services, and student computing labs managed by ITS. Physical access issues include permission to access certain buildings or labs on campus, or assistance with physical access for those with disabilities. For permissions, keys, cards, and other physical access requirements, contact the administrative offices of your college or department.
You are expected to manage access privileges correctly by not sharing your password, giving out your access code, or letting someone else borrow your access card or key.
