Information Technology Services (ITS) has posted an update regarding the WebMail2 outage that occurred on Friday, August 11. Again, thank you for your patience during the outage, and we apologize if this has caused you/your staff any inconvenience.
WebMail2 was back in production as of 11:02 on Saturday, Aug 12, 2006. We have completed the restore of the backend filesystem.
Today, August 11, 2006, we experienced an unexpected error with the backend filesytem for WebMail2 at 10:14 AM. We attempted, with the help of the vendor, to recover the filesystem. In the process of the filesystem recovery, we found some defects with the recovery procedure. While the vendor can provide us with a fix for these defects, the fix would not be available until late on Saturday or early Sunday.
We have made the decision to restore the backend filesytem from the backup taken Thursday night at 6:00 PM (18:00). This recovery should be completed by 8:00 AM Saturday morning. Once the recovery is completed, we will re-enable WebMail2.
An error occured today at 10:14 that caused WebMail2 to be down. We will update you when we have more information on when WebMail2 will be back.
