On Wednesday, April 2, 2008, Information Technology Services will make
changes to the network effecting non-Penn State traffic entering Penn
State Wireless networks. This change is being made to utilize Penn
State's wireless resources more efficiently while increasing network
security.
Intra-campus Penn State Wireless connections as well as outgoing traffic
from a Penn State Wireless network will not be affected by this change.
Likewise, typical use such a accessing Web sites and checking e-mail
will not be affected, and users will not need to make any changes to
their respective VPN clients.
However, it should be noted that communications/connections initiated
from a Penn State wireless connection via active FTP or XWindows with
hosts external to Penn State will not work properly unless such
connections are tunneled through a Secure Shell Protocol (SSH)
connection (XWindows) or through passive FTP. It is possible that
similar programs may also experience issues.

reports and requests for assistance should be directed to the ITS Help
