Have you dieted today? “Anyone who has ever turned down a piece of chocolate cake they craved, put in three hours on the treadmill to lose one pound, or binged on Rocky Road at 2am should see “36:24:36.” That means women and men, teens and 50-somethings” (Alexis Greene, Curtain Up). Everywhere you look, on TV, on the Internet, on the side of a bus, the message is loud and clear: fat is ugly, unhealthy, lazy; thin is beautiful, successful, fulfilled. Based on the real life struggles of its writer/actors (6 women/1 man) “36:24:36” explores the slippery slope from health and body image, to dieting and exercise, to obsession, depression and eating disorders. Using both comedy and drama “36:24:36” exposes “in a powerful & honest way…that eating disorders are not about the food….& beautifully illustrates the pain, devastation, depression, secrecy and isolation that unfolds through the struggle” (Jodi Rubin, LCSW). A Theatrical Play Written by: Ann Malinowsky, Naomi McDougall Jones, Candice Holdorf, Stephanie Schweitzer, Danielle Tafeen, Erin O’Connell, James Sargent. Celebrate Women's History Month!
