Phishing
He found out the hard way that she wasn't just "phishing" for compliments... Don't get hooked by a scam artist.
Maggie was the nice person in the office - she was always the first to say good morning, always baked cakes for people's birthdays, and never said a bad word about anyone. Of course, everyone always complimented Maggie for her good deeds, especially Dirk, the lonely and desperate guy in the office. He loved the attention, and he couldn't believe how nice Maggie was - especially to him - and he grew to trust her very much. Maybe a little too much.
You see, Maggie was really just a whole lot of sweet frosting on a very bad cake. By night, Maggie spent hours online as an alter-ego scam artist, the Princess of Uganda, shamlessly sending out sob-story e-mails about a sick and dying relative - and how much money she needed to keep this relative alive - and directions for where to deposit the cash. Poor Dirk, he spent hours online, too, looking for love and attention - and he received one of those pleading e-mails. He thought about Maggie and all her good deeds at the office - how could he sleep at night if he didn't help out this sick and dying relative with his life's savings? Hook, line, and sinker, Dirk got snagged. It was so easy...so much for eating cake.
Don't want to "get Dirked?" Show up at the Computer Store Expo and ITS Event on April 24 at the HUB to learn how to avoid sweet talkers - and bakers - like Maggie.
