Vijay Agarwala, Senior Director
- Serves the computing technology needs of graduate education
and research at Penn State; works to enhance researchers' ability
to compute and manage data. Provides information and expertise
related to the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Partnership
for Advanced Computational Infrastructure program (PACI) and
other federal computing programs. Explores and implements new
applications of visual computing technologies into the research
and instructional programs of Penn State. Provides computational
resources and consulting expertise in the areas of scientific
and artistic visualization, geometric and solid modeling, computer
animation, and videotape and hardcopy output.
- High Performance Computing
- Works to empower scholars in their ability to compute and
manage data by developing and maintaining several state-of-the-art
computational clusters. Provides support and expertise
for research using programming languages, numerical libraries,
statistical packages, finite element solvers, and specialized
software for computational biology, chemistry, fluid mechanics
and other disciplines. Provides information
and expertise for code optimization and parallelization on
various high performance computing machines available at Penn
State and major national centers.
- Visualization Group
George Otto, Manager
- Investigates emerging visual computing technologies and implements
several leading-edge solutions in a cost-efficient manner to
help faculty better integrate such tools in instructional and
research programs at Penn State. Provides facilities and consulting
expertise in the areas of scientific and artistic visualization,
digital animation, as well as digital media and hardcopy output.
- Special Projects
- Assists with development of course materials in support for
key computational science programming tools and applications.
Provides guest lectures, facilities introductions, software
tutorials, and more focused student project consultation
in support of credit courses offered by Penn State faculty.
Sponsors and participates in events and activities related
to high performance computing and visualization.
