Scanning Resources

Graphics and text scanning resources are available at the following locations.

Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC)

FMC consults are available, by appointment, to help faculty scan slides, photos, and artwork to a digital format for their courses. For more information, write to fmc@psu.edu. To schedule an appointment, call (814) 863-7051.

Student Computing Labs

Scanners are available in most computer labs. Scanners cannot be reserved, but are available on a first-come, first-served basis when labs are open. Check the Student Computing Labs Web site for equipment, locations, and hours.

Scanners, Purchase of

Scanners are available through Penn State's Computer Store at low academic prices. Vendors include Canon, Epson, HP, and Nikon. Visit the Computer Store to find computers, software, printers, cameras, and more, with easy online shopping.

Scanners, Reading

The University Libraries and ITS support a lab containing specialized equipment and software for people with disabilities. The Library Services for People With Disabilities lab, which is located in 23 West Pattee Library at University Park, provides reading scanners and other assistive technologies. Patrons may obtain information or assistance through Susan Hayya, shh2@psu.edu, at the lab, or by calling (814) 865-0284. Schreyer Institute Scanning Services

Scanning Operations, a service of the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence, processes paper scan sheets used to capture responses on tests, surveys, or other course assessments. See the Scanning Operations Web site for locations, hours, and additional information.
