What's a firewall?

A firewall is a method for protecting your computer against intrusion. It can help protect your computer by blocking potentially hostile connection attempts. Unit firewalls designed to help protect multiple computers in a university department, or a home or apartment complex network -- and properly configured personal firewalls that you can install on your own computer can each provide effective security to suit various needs. Learn how to protect yourself.

I don't understand some of my friends. They lock their apartments, their cars, and are careful about their possessions. But they don't seem to have a clue about computer security! Their lame excuses are that it's too technical or they don't have time, and they blame the computer manufacturers. Half the time I have to go in and rescue them. Comon people, you need to take this seriously! Don't come running to me when you lose everything, because I'm getting tired of rushing to your rescue. Get educated about protecting your digital identity and your computer!
