Request Group Training (Training On Demand)
Overview of Training On Demand Service
Training On Demand offers a convenient way for Penn State staff and faculty to provide their groups with critical technology training. Faculty can request training sessions for their students right in the classroom, and staff can request just-in-time training sessions for their groups. Through this service, experienced trainers from ITS Training Services will provide the professional instruction that will boost critical technology skills. These training sessions can be presented at various requested sites, including locations at all Penn State campuses, as well as technology classrooms or labs at the University Park campus. Training On Demand is offered based on instructor and lab availability. Click here to see a list of available topics.
Costs & Criteria
There is no cost for TOD sessions whose topics reflect scheduled free training sessions.
Fees for TOD sessions whose topics reflect scheduled for-fee sessions match the fee per participant of the scheduled session. (E.g. Since Dreamweaver: The Basics has an associated fee of $30 per participant, a TOD session of the same nature would cost $30 per participant.)
TOD requests for topics must meet a minimum requirement of 5 participants. Due to high demand, TOD requests may be prioritized based on certain criteria. Factors taken into consideration can include request timeframe, number of participants to be trained, number of hours of training, instructor availability, and ability for participants to attend a scheduled session on the same topic. For more information about TOD costs & criteria, please call 814-863-9522 or email ITSTraining@psu.edu.
Requesting a TOD
Please make requests at least one month in advance of the desired date of the training session. If possible, faculty requesting a training session for students in an academic course should make the request one semester in advance of the desired date of the training. (Allowing more time between the request date and the preferred training date increases the chances that the request can be accommodated.)
After reviewing the TOD policies, begin the request process by contacting the ITS Training Services training coordinator at 814-863-9522 or ITSTraining@psu.edu. Once your training needs have been identified, you will be asked to enter the information into the online TOD request form. The ITS Training Services program coordinator will then process your request and contact you with the final details.
Requestor Responsibilities
The requestor may be required to reserve the desired lab or room for the training session and to print handouts for participants prior to the session. The requestor is also responsible for making sure that a group leader or technical support specialist is present during the time of the training.
Weather Cancellation
All ITS Training Services training sessions at University Park campus will be cancelled on any day that the University closes or that classes are canceled for the UP location. If there is a 2-hour delay, any training session that begins prior to 10:00 a.m. will be canceled. Please check the WPSU Web site for University cancellation and delay information.
ITS Training Services reserves the right to cancel any training session due to inclement weather where risk of injury due to travel may be involved.
